From all of us .............

To all of you!

A very Merry Christmas!

Thursday, 4 December 2008

Come and trim my Christmas tree, with some decorations bought at Tiffany's. (ok more likely to be tesco haha)

Here is the Princess decorating her very own tree in her very own room! For the first time ever!

I missed Fraser doing his as I was still unpacking the decorations, around 30 seconds after I handed the tree to him he came back to say it was done LOL. It is perfect though! Even if it is a little squashed, he didnt realise you needed to pull out the branches as every year I am allowed to help and this year I didnt get time to tell him! haha. But he is more than happy and he did it all himself! Which is what really counts

Oh my goodness!

we are really in the thick of it now!!!!

Only 21 sleeps to go!!

One Snowy day!

Imagine our excitement On Saturday morning when we woke to find a winter wonderland on our doorstep!! It NEVER snows here! well rarely anyway and it never lies long enough to do anything with. The last time Fraser played in the snow was the weekend after K was born, so it was a while ago!
At just after 7.30 am we bundled up and headed out in the snow and hail to make the most of the wintery weather! I am so glad we did as it was gone by around 11! We also got the street to ourselves, after all it was a Saturday and very early!
Once we were back in and all cosy we decided to bake some gingerbread cookies. We had so much fun! My kitchen was almost as white as the snow outside, from all the icing!!

Sunday - Even more snow!!! This time there was enough to get the sledges out! What a blast we had! This is easily the most fun I have had in years!! I love the snow!

We were out for such a long time on Sunday morning, Fraser, Kirsten , myself and the kids from next door.

Tearing around on the sledges, throwing snowballs and we built a very handsome chap called Frosty!

Back home for some hot choc and home-made gingerbread cookies. Looking around my kitchen table at those four cute and happy faces all rosy and red , does it get any better than this??

Counting my blessings

I have been counting my blessings tonight. Thanks to Shanaz I have been looking at all the amazing millions of things that make up the 2 single most precious things in my life. I have decided to copy these qualities to here so I can have them for all time. I also believe this is something that can be forgotton all too easily in the daily grind of life in the hamster wheel.

Some of the things I love about my special boy,

He is hilarious! His sense of humour is so off the wall and also mature but so funny
- He is gorgeous, his beautiful eyes have been my favourite of his gorgeous features since I lifted him onto my chest for the very first time
- He is so loving and caring. He would spend his last penny on others before himself every time. He was in tears watching a song on X factor tonight, the finalists are releasing a single to raise money for our injured war heroes and their families, he was so moved and is asking if his pocket money would cover buying it even though I said I would buy it. He said that if we both buy it then more money will be raised.
- His naiivity - I am trully blessed that my sweet boy believes in the true magic of christmas and the tooth fairy and all things magical. His soul is so pure and his trust in us all implicit. He believe he knows it all and is so grown up, but thankfully he actually has no idea what this world trully has on offer.
- His love of spending time with us and how his favourite thing to do is to play monopoly with his old decrepit parents
- How he can go from having the worst day ever to being ecstatic in a split second
- How he brought about the biggest change in my life in such a beautiful and fantastic way. We have grown together and I am trully grateful for the gift that is my amazing boy

And my baby girl

-she still makes me well up 90% of the time I see her or think about her-she is the most beautiful creature I have ever had the honour to have in my life. (Fraser is beautiful too but in a masculine tim-the-tool-man-taylor way arr arr arrrrr ;) )
-I just know we will be best friends forever, I enjoy every moment of every day I spend with her and look forward to the future we will enjoy together as Mother and Daughter
-I love how much she loves me, never before have I been anyone's favourite, I cant breathe without you in my life , must be joined to you 24/7, you are my hero kind of person
-She is so bright and clever, articulate and kind. She has so much love to share
-I love how every song she sings has the same "tune" and her "dancing" is fantastic!
-She starts every day with passion and vigour, her zest for life is insatiable
-She is my baby and always will be

I am trully blessed

Uptown Cellardyke, where the girls are girls and the boys are men!

Murray is on holiday this week so we have started the week off with a lovely lazy day in the house. We only popped out to the library and pet shop this morning then snuggled in for a nice day in.

It occurred to me how stereotypical we were in our chosen activities! Kirsten and I decided to bake some lovely cup cakes (complete with pinkos ;) ) , we measured and stirred and spooned and baked. We licked the spoons and bowl until there was almost no need to wash them!. Kirsten did all the washing up and I dried, she was really good! I will need to remember this talent! Then we settled down to read stories while the oven did it's stuff. Once they were cooked and cooled, we iced and sprinkled.

All the while where were the boys? I will give you just one guess! Their chosen activity incorporated their two favourite things, Playstation and football! They were quite happy to be served the final product of our labour! They have now moved onto a wrestling game and we haven't seen them since! (They are however only out of sight, not out of sound!)

Typical?? You betcha!

Pinkos!

I just wanted to say a few words about Pinkos. These are things we use every day in our imaginary play world. One of Kirsten's favourite games is to play Ice cream shops. She can at any time just wander up and say "hello ice cream lady, I have ice cream please? One for my baby too. I have pinkos on it please?"

Pinkos are of course sprinkles and Kirsten was very excited last week when we baked a Birthday cake for her Granny Christine and it was complete with butter icing and Pinkos!!! It was meant to be a surprise but when she spoke to her Gran on the phone she was bursting to tell her and announced "it got pinkos on it!!!" so the cat was ever so slightly out of the bag, haha but it was too sweet for it to matter!

Stereophonics said it best

"There's no mistake
I smell that smell
It's that time of year again
I can taste the air"

I love it!!! It is so cold here just now, already it is time for coats and hats for the kids , I just treated myself to some amazingly cosy "Ugg" style boots and can't wait to get out and try them. cosy boots too for the kids to go crunching through the leaves. I love it!!

It has been quite cold in the house in the evenings too which can only mean one thing!! Hot chocolate!! But hot chocolate weather to me isnt just about warm milk and amazing chocolate, Oh no hot chocolate in my house is only consumed from my favourite Disney Christmas mug!! This is the best bit! It never fails to make me smile, Mickey dressed as Santa delivering presents, Donald electrocuting himself while putting lights on the tree, the roaring fire in the firepace. I is just so warm and cosy and Disney!

So as soon as I feel that chill, smell that special cold crisp air it can only mean one thing!!!

And I love it!!!

A walk for Bud

On Sunday Sept 21st my beautiful children took part in a sponsered memory walk to raise money for Alzheimers Scotland. We walked in memory of our beloved Bud, Murray's Grandad. We lost him in January of this year. He was trully one of lifes special people. He was a true gentleman. Fraser had a very special bond with him and actually gave him his very special name, Bud. We miss him so much and talk about him almost everyday. He was affected by alzheimers for around 2 years but on hindsight his memory had been failing for a lot longer. The upside to his illness was that Christine (my MIL) was very involved in his day to day care and as a result we all got to spend a lot of time with him, precious time that we may have wasted had he been 100% fit.

Sunday was an emotional day for us all but was worth every step that those special kids took. I am so proud of them and their acheivement.

This one's for you Bud

Knock three times

What a wake up! At 2am the other morning I was sleeping soundly. All of a sudden there was a loud knock at the door! I leapt out of bed and ran to answer it (dressed ever so beautifully in a long(ish) black vest ;) ) When I opened the door there was K standing on the other side! "more milk please mummy?" LOL I settled her back into bed and she went back to sleep and so did I, thinking how cute she was to have knocked!

Next morning I asked Murray if he had heard the door in the night, he replied " Yep, although I don't know who you thought you were going to answer the door to dressed like that!!!!!"

I hadnt even thought of that! Oops!

The Princess goes to Taytoop!

Today was a big day in the Hamster wheel! The Princess had her first day at Playgroup! (or Taytoop as she calls it) She was so grown up in her little playgroup polo shirt, I was able to stay with her today and she did great, I am sad and nervous for Monday though as she will be staying by herself for a whole 2.5 hours!!

One of the best days ever!

I have had a lovely day. Went to work this morning and had the most perfect time! Was on such a high when I left and headed home.

Kirsten was still napping when I got in, so I got to spend some childfree time chatting with my Mum.

When K got up she was so thrilled to see me and gave me one of the best cuddles ever. My heart just bursts thinking about how amazing and loving she is.

We ate lunch with her being all snuggly with mum and me, it was a great day so we decided to go for a walk.

Mum dropped us off so K could walk home with her pram, we went into the bank where she charmed the lady and did a great proud mummy act with her baby (so cute!) She walked like a star and we had so much fun chatting about the various shops.

On our way home we passed the hall where The playgroup is (where I work with MIL and SIL) K asked if we could go in to visit and so of course we did. She had such a great time playing with everything, swinging in the chair swing on the garden. Drinking a tiny carton of milk and generally having a ball.

All too soon it was time to keep heading on home, she was happy to leave, enjoyed bumping her pram over the cobbles along the way. I felt sad when I had to say no to playing in the park that we passed but she
said no problem and remembered that we had to be home in time for Fraser arriving home.

Once Fraser was home he wanted to go out to fly his kite. Well after the half hour that it took me to build the thing (it was such a fab kite flying day that the instructions had blown away! haha ) we headed round to the playing field and taught ourseves how to fly it. It was great! We were both rubbish But Fraser's best friend Melissa was a natural !!

Just wanted to write this dow so when it all goes pear shaped tomorrow I can remember just how good I have it

ONLY 119 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS EVE!!!

A different view from the HaMster wheel!

Life in the Hamster Wheel is usually far from dull but recently it has been crazy! In the last 6 weeks we have
Had the summer holidays
Had chicken pox
Moved out for a week and had our whole house redecorated (lots of fun while dealing with lack of sleep from the aforementioned chicken pox!)
Had a lovely week long holiday at the sea side (a different sea side to where we live ;) )
Moved back in to our beautiful newly decorated house
Started back to school
Finished working with Sarah at Astara
And started a new job working in the playgroup alongside Fiona and Christine (MIL and SIL)

PHEW!!! Now is the time we need a holiday! LOL

It shows no sign of letting up yet as we are heading full throttle into the Princess starting at Playgroup! I am getting the fridge all ready so I can display those paintings with the pride they deserve!

I have to go shopping now ............

Yesterday my Mum and I took the cherubs shopping for some new summer clothes. They were in need of a few bits and bobs for our holidays. The difference between the shopping styles of a boy and a girl are unbeleivable! I can see the future man and woman already!

Fraser -
Has to be dragged kicking and screaming into anything that closely resembles a clothes shop.
Dislikes anything you show to him , unless it has Doctor Who characters emblazoned over the front.
Refuses to try anything on.
Makes a beeline for anything expensive and or remotely gadget like. Ignored us when we were pulling out lovely T shirts and shorts and instead was drooling over a "man bag" with lots of little pockets for all of his "stuff" (which he got may I add! Granny Mary is a soft touch) Oh Mum look at this it is ONLY £90 what a bargain! Look at these cool doctor who socks! They are only £7! (me) are they silk sweetie? I would like at least 10 pairs for £7!
Once we get home he jumps out of the car with whatever new toy/gadget he has conned out of one of us. Leaving all of the bags and the new clothes, that we actually went to buy still in the boot, doesnt look for it again until he needs it to be fully washed ironed and folded in his drawer ready to put on at the exact moment he needs it.

Kirsten -
Is the first one racing into clothes shops , all you can hear is cooing and calls of "oooh this luuly (lovely), me like, me buy" "Oh me fancy"
Loves everything you pick out! The enthusiasm pours out of her, wants to buy everything!
Is already half stripped by the time you reach the childrens section. She knows what is coming! No room for embaressment about being half naked in a shop full of strangers! Going to a changing room uses up so much more shopping time, didn't you know!
Makes a beeline for anything pink and girly, twirly skirts, broderie anglaise. This girl knows what flatters her and sticks with it! And luckily she has an eye for a bargain! Although this doesn't impare on her impeccable taste!
Once we get home she steps out of the car in the new jacket that we bought for her, as she just couldnt wait to use it. As she struggles in carrying the bag twice the size of herself , stuffed full with all of the goodies, she is already starting to strip off. A girl must put on a fashion show of all the new treats she has been given. She struts and twirls just like any mini supermodel should.

LOL Sound familiar?? I am sure this is a similar scenario that goes on worldwide within marriages everywhere.

Stereotypical?? much??

Cliff Richard eat your heart out!

Our summer holidays are going to be the best!
woo hoo! I am so looking forward to the summer holidays this year, I am hoping to be updating on here with all of the fun things we have been doing.
Nothing good tomorrow though, I have the dentist! Yuck!! The rest of the week should be fun, there is gonna be a birthday in the house! yee ha!
I can't wait for all of the picnics, beach trips, baking, crafts, some scrapbooking and hopefully large amounts of dry weather!Oh and our Holiday!!! yay our first for 2 years!
All we need now is a big red bus and some dodgy jumpers! haha

Where's the Daddy???

Well we are into our third day with no Murray, he is away on training for work. I think we are doing not too bad, we are all still clean and fed and the house is still standing (although it may be the mess holding it up ;) ) but something just isn't right! The first thing K asks in the morning is "Daddy ome? Daddy bed? " . Fraser asked to call him 3 times last night as there were things he just HAD to tell him (mostly about WWE wrestling). My bed is suddenly quite cold? think I may need a hot water bag tonight, a bit strange for June. Even June in Scotland!
I am sure Friday will be here before we know it and all the gaping holes in our daily lives will be filled again, in the meantime I can foresee a few phonecalls to Daddy's mobile. Fraser and I have his homework to finish tonight, thank goodness Murray is even good at maths long distance! LOL

Shopping list

As it is Sat morning I had a lovely lie in, I get very spoiled on the weekends and Murray lets me sleep as late as I want. When I got up Kirsten was in a fantastic mood and had had a ton of fun with Daddy. She very proudly showed me her "shopping list" apparently she had taken a long time carefully "writing" it.
The things she wanted to buy were
Toast
Pineapple
Onion
A roll (she calls it a nool)

I was LOL, it was so cute. I have no idea what she is going to cook with that lot! haha Then she walked around for ages chanting onion toast, onion toast and cracking up at herself!

what a girl!
