Eight.

And so, during the last hour of the last day of April, with 3% battery left on the iPad I am finally going to upload these pics of my beautiful girl on her special day. Technology failed us that day too, my big camera refused to turn on, so we had to rely on our phones. We still captured the moments but they are slightly dark and blurry in parts.

Our girl is 8.

When it is the last day ever that you will be 7 years old, you are allowed to do all sorts of great Things like eat an entire punnet of strawberries with a chocolate fondue , on the work top, wearing boots.
Happy.

This year Kirsten wasn't sure what she wanted for a birthday gift. There wasn't anything that she really really wanted.
Well there was something that she really did want but Daddy had said no.
But then he secretly said yes!
We were very sneaky and organised two new additions to our family.
Technically one is mine but these are gifts the whole family can share and enjoy.

I'll never forget her face when she walked in to the livingroom and saw the hutch.
"Are we going to get some guinea pigs??" she asked.

Look inside KP!
This is the moment Syrup joined our family.

She is so good to them. giving them lots of cuddles and making sure they have enough veggies and cosy hay.

Wee syrup was only 8 weeks old when she joined our family, she has grown so much!

This is Mabel. She is a few weeks older than Syrup and was much bigger, she is still a little bigger but Syrup is catching up!

During a girly day, getting their nails done, Kirsten spotted a cake in a magazine and told Lor that this is the
one she wanted for her Birthday cake.
And of course Lor delivered, again.
This is definitely one of my favourites. (Along with any other cake she has made for us! lol)

It was very strange to not be organising a birthday party this year. Kirsten chose a birthday treat instead, we went to the science centre with her best friend.
So a quiet birthday tea was enjoyed instead of a busy , noisy party.

Eight. Eight!!!

Happy Birthday to our sweet girl.

(love the joy on Joe's face and the banner that fell down. This is real life. :-) )

Feeling Springy

What a year so far! It's been crazy busy. Lots of changes, lots of fun.

I feel super sad that I didn't manage to document Miss K's 8th Birthday in the actual month that is took place :-(
But!! I'm back now and will pop them on here.

                                     . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Dear Future me,

When you are looking back through the posts of 2014 and you can't find the (very few) pictures (that you actually took) of Miss K's Birthday, you need look no further. They are nestled in here, under April's tab. You have decided to cut yourself some slack on this seeing as you have been living the life of a mad woman for 4 months now :-)

Love from

Present me x

Anyway, onto this actual post.

Spring.

I have returned to working from home, back to childminding and we are all loving it.
I have just been able to spend the whole of the Easter holidays at home with the kids. It's been fabulous. I forgot how awesome it is to allow them to just relax and stay in pjs all day if they want to. The only deadlines and time restraints are the ones we choose.
Loving it.

The spring weather is finally arriving and last week we spent the morning at the beach. It was beautiful, fresh and exhilarating.
That sky went on forever.
**sigh**

The kids loved being out in the sunshine and we all wished it was warm enough for a picnic lunch. Sadly, it isn't yet but its been added to our summer list :-)

I just love my girl with her short hair.
Oh yeah! That's another thing yet to be shared on here! That is a story for sure.

I love my little sand angel.

Ooh it does feel good to visit this space again. i have missed it. Here's hoping I'll be back very soon

Happy happy spring xx

And ...... Relax

It has taken me so long to get back on here to update and share our photos. Life keeps on rolling and it's been difficult for me to find the time to visit my little happy corner. But a change is coming and I am looking forward to that day. Hopefully only one week to go :-)

With the Hamster wheel hurtling along at full speed, we were in need of a little visit to our happy place. A little Friday to Monday getaway which was nothing short of magical.

We can almost pin point the exact stretch of road where we begin to feel it.

The exhale.
The relaxation washing over us.

(It's just past the turn off to Ikea , where the scenery becomes beautiful and the sea shows us the way. )

Mis K brought her new camera with her and she made me so proud. She has a great eye for a great shot and never missed one opportunity. From here on out, if you see a pic with this yellow time/date stamped on it - It is a K pic.

When we arrived we immediately visited the town centre so the kids could visit their favourite shops and pick up some goodies/new toys for our night in the hotel.
It was my favourite kind of day, sunny and cold with snowy showers :-)

We enjoyed a lovely meal out and had a stroll along the "big" bridge.

K was feeling ca-ray-zeee and without a word of a lie, she almost went over the side of this bridge. Murray and I almost lost our minds!  It was one of the scariest moments of my life!!

The last photo of our crazy bear with all her teeth.
That top front tooth was out by bedtime.
The tooth fairy did a great job of finding us at our hotel :-)

Back to the safety of solid ground.

Exhale.

The next morning we woke to some more beautiful cold sunshine and we finally got our feet on the gorgeous sand of our favourite beach.

These two just made everything perfect. They are prone to a squabble or two but his weekend? They played and ran and shared and enjoyed each others company.
My mama heart was bursting at the seams.

A perfect mix of fun and serenity.
